Mallorca, Spain has an impressive variety of parks, ranging from the largest to the smallest, both private and public. The parks and gardens in Mallorca include many that were the former private gardens and parklands of the island's nobility and whether it is just a small square with surrounding trees or a larger open space, they are all peaceful places to relax. Here are some of the most popular parks and gardens in Mallorca.

Parc de la Mar - Palma, Mallorca, Spain
The Parc de la Mar in Palma, Mallorca is situated close to the south side of La Seu Cathedral and was established in the 1960s. This park is tiered and offers some splendid views of Palma's waterfront. Abstract art is dotted around the park, including a giant, tiled mural by Joan Miro. There is also a small lake which was designed to reflect the cathedral and the Arc de la Drassana Musulmana, a large arch that curves over a lake of black swans. This arch serves as a reminder of Palma's Moorish past when it was a gateway to the royal docks. The nearby Sas Volves provides a popular space for art exhibitions and concerts.

Parc Natural Mondrago - east of Santanyl, Mallorca, Spain
The Parc Natural Mondrago in Mallorca is a relatively unspoilt and natural area, with winding footpaths and country lanes. It is a popular spot on the island for walking and the routes are well marked and fairly easy. Highlights include a rugged coastline, a pine forest, ponds, dunes and small coves, including Mondrago, Calo des Burgit and S'Armarador.

Botanicactus - Santanyi, Mallorca, Spain
The interesting Botanicactus gardens are situated 6 km / 4 miles east on the Es Pontas Rock and are home to over 400 different species of cactus, including some very large and old specimens.

La Granja Gardens - Esporles, Mallorca, Spain

Jardines de Alfabia - north of Palma, Mallorca, Spain
Tel: +34 971 613 123
The popular Alfabia gardens can be found 14 km / 9 miles north of Mallorca's capital, Palma. The Jardines de Alfabia are the magnificent Moorish gardens of an old manor house and are set amongst citrus groves. Highlights of the garden include a giant plane tree, footpaths shaded by pergolas, winding streams, gentle fountains, large beds of fragrant roses, ivy-clad walls and a stately avenue of large trees.

Jardi Botanic Gardens - Soller, Mallorca, Spain
The Jardi Botanic Gardens are situated close to the Balearic Museum of Natural Science, in Soller, a sheltered valley. The splendid, landscaped gardens contain many established plants that are native to Mallorca and the Balearic islands.
